Mega 2560 PRO (Embed) CH340G/ATmega2560-16AU
Overview
The RobotDyn Mega 2560 PRO (Embed) packs the full feature set of an Arduino Mega 2560 R3 into a compact 38 × 55 mm module. All 70 I/O pins are broken out to standard 0.1″ headers along the perimeter, making it ideal for embedding in breadboard projects, custom PCBs, or space-constrained enclosures.
It uses the same ATmega2560-16AU silicon as a standard Mega 2560 and is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE, libraries, and shields (via jumper wires — the form factor is not shield-compatible).
Why Use This Board
A standard Arduino Mega is 53 × 102 mm — over twice the footprint. The PRO Embed gives you the same:
- 54 digital I/O pins (vs. 14 on Uno)
- 15 PWM outputs (vs. 6 on Uno)
- 16 analog inputs (vs. 6 on Uno)
- 4 hardware UARTs (vs. 1 on Uno)
- 256 KB flash (vs. 32 KB on Uno)
…in roughly the size of a Pro Mini, with USB onboard.
Pinout
The pinout follows standard ATmega2560 QFP-100 mapping. Compared to a full Mega R3, the PRO Embed uses 0.1″ inline headers on both long edges:
- Left edge: D22–D53 (port pins, sequentially)
- Right edge: D0–D21, A0–A15, plus power (3.3V, 5V, GND, Vin)
- Short edges: ICSP header, reset, ICSP for USB controller
Refer to the official pinout PDF for exact pin position.
Programming
- Connect via Micro-USB to your computer
- In Arduino IDE:
- Tools → Board → Arduino Mega 2560
- Tools → Processor → ATmega2560 (Mega 2560)
- Select your serial port and upload as normal
The CH340G driver may need to be installed on Windows (preinstalled on macOS and Linux).
Common Uses
- Custom embedded controllers
- 3D printer mainboards (RAMPS alternative)
- Multi-channel data loggers
- DMX lighting controllers (54 outputs)
- Industrial sensor hubs
Where to Buy in 2026
RobotDyn no longer manufactures, but clones with the same ATmega2560-16AU + CH340G combination are common. Look for boards explicitly labeled “PRO Embed” at the 38×55 mm size — there’s also a smaller Mega 2560 PRO Mini with a different footprint.
